History at Yabba before the KellyGang

Greta

First settled by J Redfern, an overlander from New South Wales before 1840 for Edward Jnr and W Howe
north of Mitta Mitta. Yabba was 25,000 acres. By 1845 Redfern transferred the lease to William Howe JP. In 1854 MacLaurin owned the lease, by1865 Alexander Paton and Sons held it. It would seem that the Paton family still held the lease by the time of the KellyGang.

In 1876 the license was held by Andrew Paton & Sons, ? acres, license fee half year £75
