...a place in the KellyGang story
Areas
Ewen Tolmie was one of the first graziers in the area. He had a brother, John who was a witness at a trial against Wild Wright.
Tolmie was near Stringybark Creek.
One of the Tolmie boundary riders,John Martin , was laying baits to
poison dingoes, which were plentiful in the neighbourhood of the KellyGang
camp near Stringybark Crteek. He
saw the KellyGang's horses.
Mr Tolmie, in turn, passed this information to Sergeant Kennedy,
whom he took out to Wombat Ranges and showed him the shingled hut on Stringybark
Creek, near which the police party afterwards pitched their tent. (JJK)
Const McIntrye found himself near Tolmie soon after the murders at Stringy Bark Creek (FH)
