Diggers first tried their luck on the Mitta Mitta River at Tallandoon in 1852 but with poor results.
In the 1880s William. Smith lived at the "The Acacias" Tallandoon, Matthew Smith, at the "Willow View" and Charles Smith, "Tallandoon" Albury.
