History of the Buckland River before the KellyGang

The original aboriginal owners

The first selectors in the area

Gold
Gold was found at Buckland in 1853.
Hare was stationed on the Buckland soon after gold was found in the area (FH)

In 1865 gold was being mined at Morse's Creek on the Buckland River (Argus15/8/65)

What was the Buckland River like in the late 1870's

Links to the KellyGang

Dan Kelly was seen near Buckland Flat on about 12/2/1879. It would seem that the KellyGang may have had a meeting place in the thick bush country behind Buckland Flat (RC1270)

The police had reports that Chinese storekeepers on the Buckland, Pong Luke and Chat Ving, supplied provisions to the KellyGang (RCApp15)(RC13475)

It would be great to know more about Buckland River; can you please help
