Escape north

On Sunday 27/10/1878, the day after the Mansfield Murders, the KellyGang came around to see me. I gave them a change of clothing and a meal and they went on their way.

In late Octomer 1878 Ass Com Nicolson led a search party after the KellyGang to near our place and he suggested that police should watch Cart Road Gully that was near our place and McBean's swamp (RC 676)

Jerilderie Robbery 10/2/1879
I was allotted a selection at Myrhee and Tatong 44a 4p (OMA5/4/1879)
Later in 1879

In 1879 the authorities identified me as a sympathizer. I was arrested with Tom Lloyd. (Argus12/3/79) (Argus13/3/79) (OMA13/3/79)

They decided to fix me. See the type of letter they used to send out to get people off their selections. Get your family on the road to no where Mr Tanner. This thing was dated 16/6/1879

'To Mr. William Tanner, Myrrhee. -Sir-Referring to your letter of the 9th instant, enquiring the reason why your application for 44a. 0r. 4p., parishes of Myrrhee and Tatong, was refused, I have the honor to inform you that the land in question was refused on the recommendation of the Police Department'
What was Insp Montfort's response to this letter?(RC3553)

It would be great to know more about William Tanner; can you please help
