The Quinns came from County Antrim (See RCStoryofKellyGang)
Arrived in Australia

We, with children migrated to Australia on a ship called the England and arrived in Melbourne in July 1841 and went to live in Pascoe Vale on Moonee Ponds Creek. (RC says 1839). In 1844 we settled in Wallan on Kemp's Swamp and eventually by about 1850 we owned about 700 acres.

In 1863 I sold up at Wallan and with the £2,000 or so I got we took up the Glenmore run near Moyhu and about four miles above the Hedi station. (RC3139) Some saw me as a cattle-stealer who wanted to get away from the police into a quite part of the colony. They refused to believe that a man could succeed through hard work in Australia

Jack and Jimmy Quinn, lived on the Black Range Creek

Const Flood and Mullane arrested me for an assault on an old man, and also on his own sister. According to Flood I assaulted an old man over sixty years of age with a two-inch auger- bent the anger over his head, and assaulted his own sister at the same time. I got about two years and a half for the assault on the old man, and eighteen months for the assault on my sister. Bricky Williamson was done for aiding and abetting me. While I was in gaol, a man whom I had previously assaulted with a bullock yoke came out from home and I received an additional sentence(RC12586)(RCApp10) (Argus4/10/72)

The Royal Commission described my role in events that took place after my death (2ndReportI)
See a family history (Herald4/7/1880)

James Quinn died 1869

I was buried in the cemetery at Oxley in 1869. I was 66 when I died

My wife Mary Ann died in 1894 aged 95 at Swanpool, 24 kms South of Benalla. She is buried in the Benalla cemetery.
Herr parents were Pat McCluskey and Ellen McKinlay

Grace Quinn
Joe Byrne apparently told Wallace that our daughter Grace Quinn had Sgt Kennedy's watch and chain, as Byrne wanted to get the watch to return it to Mrs. Kennedy. The KellyGang are very sorry for the shooting of Kennedy. (RC14971)
It would be great to know more about Mr and Mrs Quinn; can you please help
