Glenrowan Siege 28/6/1880

Special train leaves Melbourne to go to Beechworth - follow up on death of Aaron Sherritt
I got news that the train was being prepared and made my way down to Spencer St Station in train to cath the train in time

Train arrives at Benalla
The train stopped at Benalla to get the latest news from Beechworth and to pick up water

Arrive at Glenrowan
When the train was stopped by Mr Curnow I got out of the carriage through the window and opened the door for Sup Hare. (Argus5/7/80) (RC10301)
I arrived at Glenrowan by train at about 2.30 am on the morning of the siege.

Begining of the siege
I watched the start of the siege from the railway platform (RC1609)
I had a firearm and went forward with the police to the ditch for a time. (RC10033)

We helped the police. Many of the men had taken wrong ammunition with them, and the consequence was that they had to send back for ammunition, and Mr. McWirther and myself sorted the carbine and Martini Henry ammunition and gave it out to the men as the messengers came to the station for it. (RC10331)

I was present when Ned Kelly was captured. (RC10349)
