Stringy Bark Creek Murders in the Wombat Ranges 26/10/1878

I was Beechworth when news of murders were recieved? (RC17373)

Just after the murders I took out a search party from Mansfield to Lancefield on road to Wombat, Stringy Bark Creek falls (Ryan's branch ?) to Roschiel homestead, Peter Lane's run, between Mason's Fifteen Mile Creek and Killers, on head of Fifteen-mile Creek, to right-hand branch of the King River. (RC676)
Later was sent out in charge of a search party of 4 or 5 police on horse back from Benalla after the murders.
I discovered the KellyGang's camp, and recovered a number of horses there-the camp they occupied before the murders on German's Creek.(RC463)

On 28/10/1878 SConst Kelly, Consts Connor, Meehan, and Bray and I went out from Benalla on a search party up the King River. We spent a night on Boggy Creek. (Argus30/11/78)(RC7980)

On the night of 3/11/1878 I travelled on the police special train from Benalla to Beechworth with Sgt Steele. (RC17406)

On 6/11/1878 I was with Sup Sadleir at Taylors Gap. We then went into Beechworth (RC1765)

Sebastopol Cavalcade 7/11/1878
I was at the Sebastopol cavalcade. I had a discussion with Mr Sherritt Snr.
Euroa Robbery 10/12/1878

I based at Mansfield and sent out search parties from there after the Euroa robbery (RC1262) (RC15493)

I sent the following telegram at 10.15pm on 11/12/1878
"I do not see how the trackers can reach Sup Nicolson at or near Euroa till late to-night. If he awaits them, then much valuable time is lost, if he does not wait the chances are the trackers and men with them never come up with him. I think the KellyGang likely to make for Strathbogie Ranges and via Double Creeks to old haunts. My party with trackers should go on to table land at back of Dry Creek and Doon, at once, and endeavour to intercept Kelly or cut his tracks and run them. By dividing my party and leaving it without trackers 'tis rendered of little use any way. I was directed to go the other way.
"portion of James' party to remain at Mansfield and portion to go to Broken River; those for latter place to take up the duties of James' party, by which, on enquiry from him, will be explained to them.-S. MAUD, for Superintendent.at Benalla" (Argus14/12/78)(RC15508)

I, with Insp Pewtress was responsible for the arrest of Walter Lynch. (Argus1/7/79)

I gave evidence at the Monk enquiry (Argus21/5/79)

Royal Commission
Com Standish called me a very good man (RC234)
Early Service
Later Service
I was sent to Mansfield (RCApp1)
