I was stationed in Euroa at this time. People say that I met Steve Hart on the afternoon of the robbery some time before they went off to the bank.
I did not hear a thing about the robbery until much later that evening. As soon as I knew about the robbery I hoped on the 9.30pm train and went up to Benalla. Manyof the people in Euroa thought that I should have stayed to look after the town and send someone else. When I got there I saw Sgt Whelan at the telegraph office. I told him that the bank had been stuck up at Euroa. I then went back as part of the search party. (RC5963)(RC15494)
