The Benalla Standard says -"It is some what remarkable that no less than four horses, owned by residents of Benalla, have been missed within the last week or ten days. Most of the horses are said to be good and suspicions point to the Kelly gang. We were told by a person yesterday that Ned had his eye on one of these horses some time ago, and expressed a desire to become its possessor. Our informant also assured us that he believed the horses were wanted by the gang in order to recommence business."
