Full text of article

A small strike amongst the labourers at the ballast pits connected with the railway works at Barnawatha is reported by the Wodonga correspondent of the Border Post. The men demanded an increase of Is. per day wages. After standing idle all day on the 3rd inst., the contractors conceded the point, and work was resumed next morning. The men are now getting Is. per hour. The works between Wodonga and Chiltern are in an advanced state; the rails are laid from near Fallon's at Barnawatha to Green Hills, and the lower layer of ballast is placed on the line to within two miles of Wodonga.
